Where We’ve Been This Week
Hutchison School vs. St. Mary’s Episcopal School
Instant Classic at Dobbs Field - Hutchison Mounts Thrilling Comeback Win
Late-Season Thriller: Hutchison Edges Out St. Mary’s in 8–7 Victory
On Monday, we headed to Dobbs Field to watch a highly anticipated late-season matchup with playoff implications, as the Hutchison Sting took on the St. Mary’s Turkeys in what turned out to be an instant classic.
The game began with both teams cautiously feeling each other out, leading to a 1–1 deadlock at the end of the first quarter. In the second, St. Mary’s gained momentum and took control, heading into halftime with a 4–2 lead.
The second half delivered exactly what fans had been hoping for. The Sting came out with renewed energy and intensity, wasting no time closing the gap. With sharp passing and relentless pressure, Hutchison battled back to even the score 5–5 by the end of the third quarter, setting the tone for an electric final quarter.
St. Mary’s struck first in the fourth, taking a 6–5 lead. Hutchison’s #20, Lillian Hussey, quickly responded with the equalizer, then followed up moments later with a beautiful assist to #15 Kennedy Gegg, who gave Hutchison their first lead of the game at 7–6.
With time winding down, both teams managed to find the net one final time, and when the clock hit zero, the Sting emerged victorious with a dramatic 8–7 win.
It was a hard-fought game and everything you’d expect from this storied rivalry, fast-paced, competitive, and unforgettable.
Players of the Game- Hutchison #20 Lillian Hussey & #21 Caroline Gamble.
Playoffs Have Arrived
Houston High School vs. Franklin High School
Houston Falls to Franklin in State Quarterfinals After Stellar Season
After a quick venue change we headed to Collierville to watch the quarterfinal matchup between Houston and Franklin in what proved to be a show of heart and determination on the field. Houston came out stong, keeping pace with the Admirals early on. While the halftime score read 8-3 in Franklin’s favor, it didn’t fully reflect the intensity and closeness of the opening half. A couple of quick Admiral goals before the break widened the gap, but the Mustangs never let up.
In the second half, Houston played with grit and resilience. Every time it seemed they were within reach of swinging the momentum, Franklin responded, either with a key goal or a defensive stop. The Mustangs fought to the final whistle, ultimately falling 13-6 to a tough Franklin squad.
As I shared after the game, this is a remarkable group of young ladies. Their character, unity, and support for one another have been inspiring all season long. While the scoreboard didn’t go their way, the pride and heart they showed are victories in themselves. Hold your heads high, Mustangs - the future is bright, and I can't wait to see what next year brings.
Great season, Mustangs!
St. Mary’s Episcopal School vs. Baylor School
Back with a Vengeance: St. Mary's Starts Their Playoff Run
Yesterday were headed to St. Mary’s to watch them take on Baylor for their quarterfinals matchup and they came out firing on all cylinders. The Turkeys started strong, taking early control of the game and never looking back, ultimately defeating Baylor with a decisive 17–8 victory.
St. Mary’s set the tone from the opening draw, quickly establishing a lead and applying relentless pressure on both ends of the field. By halftime, the score stood at a commanding 12–3 in favor of the Turkeys.
Though Baylor managed to find the net a couple of times in the fourth quarter, the game was already out of reach. St. Mary’s maintained composure and control throughout, closing the match with a comfortable nine-goal lead.
It was a complete team performance, with contributions from every part of the field. The victory sends St. Mary’s to the semifinals, brimming with confidence and momentum. We’re excited to watch them in the next round as they travel to take on Harpeth Hall in Nashville for their Semi Finals matchup.
Players of the Game - St. Mary’s #5 Charlotte Stakem and #4 Emma Thompson.
Evangelical Christian School vs. Webb School of Knoxville
ECS Girls Lacrosse Rolls Past Webb in Dominant First-Round Victory
After a quick lunch break, we made our way over to Cordova to catch ECS take on Webb in their opening game of the Division II Class A bracket. We arrived shortly after the opening whistle, and a glance at the scoreboard showed ECS already up 3-0, a lead they would only build on as the game progressed.
Led by the dynamic scoring duo of Sarah Grace Clinton and Kate Spiegelman, the Eagles kept Webb on their heels for all four quarters. Their relentless pace and aggressive offense overwhelmed the visitors, resulting in a decisive 18-4 victory.
With this win, ECS advances to the semifinals, where they’ll face Christian Academy of Knoxville next week at home.

Thank you to the Hutchison School for allowing Kherington the opportunity to come out and have some fun with the team. She had an incredible time, and the girls were so friendly and welcoming, it truly meant the world to her. As a dad, seeing her embraced like that was all I could have hoped for. A special thank you to the team, faculty and staff, especially Coach Trevor and the Athletic Director, Caroline for extending the invitation.
