Where We’ve Been This Week
Evangelical Christian School vs. University School of Nashville
ECS Rides Back to Memphis With Their First Lacrosse TSSAA State Championship.
We made it to Ravenwood High School just in time to catch ECS take on USN in the Division II Class A Championship. There was an electric feeling in the air, fans, players, and coaches all sensed that ECS was on the verge of making school history.
From the first whistle to the last, the Eagles dominated. Casey Vargo led the charge with an impressive 8 goals, while Kate Spiegelman added 5 and senior Sarah Grace Clinton contributed 4. Sarah Grace appeared to be the steady hand behind the Eagles’ offense, showing incredible leadership and control throughout the game.
ECS took a commanding 14–6 lead into halftime. After the break, their defense clamped down, allowing just 2 goals in the second half to seal a decisive 21–8 victory.
First-year head coach MeriTaylor Pickle praised her team's performance, saying she “expected them to at least make the finals” and they went one better by bringing home the title.
The Eagles will lose some key contributors next season, most notably senior leader Sarah Grace Clinton. However, with a strong core of young talent, ECS seems well-positioned to go back to back like the ‘89-’90 Pistons. Congratulation Eagles on making history!
Harpeth Hall vs. Father Ryan High School
The Bears Take Home Fourth Straight Title in Dominating Fashion
It was a perfect night for lacrosse in Nashville as Harpeth Hall took on Father Ryan in a showdown under the lights. Fans packed the stands for what began as a defensive battle, with both teams feeling each other out in a gritty first quarter. Harpeth Hall struck first and held a slim 1-0 lead after the first.
The Bears found their offensive rhythm in the second quarter, applying steady pressure and capitalizing on key possessions. By halftime, they had built a commanding 6-0 lead, fueled by disciplined passing and aggressive defense.
The second half saw Harpeth Hall truly dominate, opening with a five-goal blitz in the first six minutes to take an 11-0 lead. Senior standout Gracie Lucas delivered a performance to remember in her final game as a Bear, notching 5 goals and 2 assists. She heads to Vanderbilt next year to play for Coach Hewitt, leaving behind a great legacy as a Bear.
With this 15-1 victory over Father Ryan, Harpeth Hall secures its fourth consecutive state championship, cementing its status as a true dynasty in Tennessee girls lacrosse.
And a HUGE shoutout to the Harpeth Hall student section! You brought the energy all night long—easily the most spirited and entertaining crowd we’ve seen all season. You made the atmosphere electric. Loved to see it!
Congratulations to the Honey Bears on another historic season! 🐻🥍
Page High School vs. Seymour High School
Rematch Ends is Same Dramatic Fashion.
Saturday morning began with sunshine and southern comfort as K and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Ruby Sunshine in Franklin before we headed back to Ravenwood to watch Page take on Seymour in a much-anticipated championship rematch from last year.
From the opening whistle, it was clear we were in for a battle. The first quarter was a chess match, with each team trading goals and momentum. By the end of one, it was all locked up at 3-3.
In the second quarter, the Patriots found their rhythm. Crisp ball movement and tight defense gave Page just enough edge to head into halftime with a 9-7 lead. But nobody in the stands was getting comfortable, this game had the feel of a classic.
The third quarter brought more fireworks. As we rolled into the fourth, Page clung to an 11-10 lead, with the crowd buzzing and nerves riding high.
Then came the drama. Late in the final quarter, Seymour tied it at 12, threatening to flip the script on Page’s title hopes.
Enter freshman Emry Thompson.
With poise beyond her years, Thompson seized her moment slipping through the defense and firing in the go-ahead goal with just under five minutes left on the clock.
Page’s defense held firm down the stretch, and when the final whistle blew, it was a hard-fought 13-12 victory for the Patriots.
What. A. Game.
